청소년 스트레스가 우울에 미치는 영향에 자원봉사활동의 조절효과

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 청소년 스트레스가 우울에 미치는 영향을 파악하고, 스트레스 대처자원으로써 청소년자원봉사활동의 조절효과를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원의 ‘2011년 아동 · 청소년 정신건강증진을 위한 지원방안 연구’ 데이터 중 전국의 중 · 고등학교에 재학 중인 청소년 6,492명을 대상으로 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 조사대상 청소년들의 74.1%가 학업 스트레스, 38.3%가 가족스트레스, 14.2%가 친구스트레스를 받고 있다고 응답하여 청소년들은 학업에 가장 높은 스트레스를 받는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 약 19%의 청소년들이 우울의 범주에 속하였고, 41.1%의 청소년들이 자원봉사활동을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 청소년의 스트레스와 우울과의 관계에서는 학업 · 가족 · 친구 스트레스가 모두 우울을 증가시켰고(p＜.001), 반면에 청소년 자원봉사활동은 우울을 감소시키는 것으로 확인되었다(p＜.001). 청소년의 스트레스와 우울의 관계에서 자원봉사활동의 조절효과 검증에서는 자원봉사활동이 가족스트레스와 우울의 관계에서 조절효과가 나타나(p＜.01) 청소년들이 자원봉사활동을 할수록 가족스트레스로 인한 우울이 감소되는 것으로 검증되었다. 또한 친구스트레스와 자원봉사활동의 상호작용항이 경계수준에서 유의하여(p＜.1) 청소년들이 자원봉사활동을 할수록 친구스트레스로 인한 우울이 낮아지는 것이 발견되었다. 하지만 학업스트레스에 대한 자원봉사활동의 조절효과가 발견되지 않았다. 이를 토대로 청소년 스트레스와 우울 및 청소년 자원봉사활동과 관련한 함의를 제공하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of the study was to examine the effect of volunteer participation and stressors and depression in youths. For this purpose, the authors analyzed the data from 6,492 youths, by means of SPSS 18.0. who responded to the study conducted into the mental health of children and youth in the 2011 survey of the National Youth Policy Institute. The results of this analysis report indicated that amongst youths who have been under academic stress (74.1%), family stress (38.3%), peer stress (14.2%), about 19 percent of them have suffered from depression, and 41.1 percent of the youths had participated in volunteering activities. Significantly negative relationships were found between volunteer participation of youth and depression in such youth. That is to say, depression in youth was buffered by volunteering activity. Volunteering amongst youth acted as a moderating function for family stress, peer stress and the depression amongst youth, but did not do so for academic stress. Through this study, it was clear that improving the rate of participation in volunteering activities amongst youth would be a very worthwhile goal.
