다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to identify recent research trends regarding multicultural education in early childhood and was to examine the suggestion for multicultural education based on research trends.
It is reviewed the research of multicultural education as 4 aspects, which are 'development and effects of multicultural education program', 'teacher's practices and perception about multicultural education', 'attributes, adaptation and experience of young children from multicultural backgrounds' and 'teacher education in multicultural education'.
As a result, the directions toward multicultural education were suggested as follows; First, Concepts, targets and objectives of multicultural education should be clarified. Secondly, it should contribute to the formation of positive cultural identity for young children. Third, multicultural competence should be cultivated. Fourth, multicultural education concepts with diversity should be included to the curriculum in integrative. Fifth, a multicultural education experience for young children should be based on the current routine life and must be complementarily organized in diversity and commonality.
