초등학교 저학년 다문화교육 프로그램 개발·적용에 관한 연구|RISS 상세보기

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 초등학교 저학년 학생들이 다문화 사회로의 변화를 적극적, 능동적으로 이해하고 대응하고 궁극적으로 민주시민의 자질을 높이는 데 도움이 될 수 있는 다문화교육 프로그램을 개발·실행하고 그 과정과 결과를 반성적으로 고찰하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 인천의 한 초등학교 1학년을 대상으로 10차시에 걸쳐 다문화교육 프로그램을 개발하고 적용해 보았다.
적용 결과, 다음과 같은 시사점을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 대체로 각 차시에서 의도한 목표에 도달하였으나 일부 차시에서는 본 프로그램의 의도와는 다르게 수업이 진행되었음을 확인할 수가 있었다. 둘째, 초등학교 저학년 학생임을 감안하여 그들의 생활 경험과 가깝고 이해 가능한 자료로 대체되거나 삭제되어야 하는 수업 자료가 일부 포함된 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 다양한 자료 사용으로 인한 교사의 부담이 크게 나타났다. 넷째, 다양한 자료와 활동으로 설계된 본 프로그램의 교사의 실행에 있어서 가장 큰 문제점은 시간 부족을 들 수 있다. 다섯째, 초등학교 저학년 학생들도 세계 문화와 세계적 문제에 대해 상당한 관심과 흥미를 가지고 있음을 수업 적용을 통해 느낄 수 있었다. 여섯째, 다문화교육 프로그램 적용 결과 많은 학생들에게서 긍정적인 변화를 확인할 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to develop and apply multicultural education program geared toward teaching school children in the lower grades to properly respond to fast-changing multicultural modern society. This study attempted to teach elementary school lower graders to grow into democratic citizens who have positive self-concept, who prize the culture and value of others and who are receptive to people of different cultural background. The subjects in this study were first graders in an elementary school located in the city of Incheon. After earlier studies were reviewed, a pretest was implemented, and a 10-session teaching-learning program was devised and applied based on the earlier studies and the results of the pretest.
When the multicultural education program was applied, that encountered several problems and produced significant results at the same time. As for the problems, some of the activities in the program weren't in line with the selected teaching objectives, and it's not easy to select appropriate materials, to regulate the degree of difficulty and to take advantage of regular classroom hours. Besides, teachers found it burdensome to prepare the required materials. Despite the problems, however, the results of the program lent credibility to the necessity and possibility of multicultural education for lower graders. The students had a stronger racial prejudice than expected, and they held a biased view of gender, disabilities and occupation. At the same time, however, they showed a great deal of interest in global culture and issues. According to all the collected data including posttest data and their writing about the outcome of the instruction and their own feelings, the multicultural education program brought favorable changes to them.
