This study purposes to understand the impact of welfare interest on Korean welfare attitudes and the relations between two sub-dimensions of welfare attitudes (general values related to welfare state/attitudes on welfare programs).
The results shows that the impacts of the variables that represent welfare interest-incomes, sex, age-are not clear. They do not support sufficiently welfare interest hypothesis in both two sub-dimensions of welfare attitudes. Income does not impact on most variables of general values related to welfare state and are related to the attitudes on welfare programs very weakly. Many variables of general values related to welfare state are significantly related to some variables of attitudes on welfare programs. It can be reasoned that Korean middle class prefer universalism in welfare programs from those relations.
