최근 5년간 유아교육관련 학회지에 게재된 질적연구 논문의 동향 분석 = An analysis of qualitative research trends published in nine major korean early childhood education journals from 2007 to 2012

This study aims to discern the overall characteristics of qualitative research trends in the field of early childhood education. For this purpose, 514 qualitative research articles were selected and analyzed among the 3,632 articles published in the last 5 years (2007 to June 2012) in nine major early childhood education journals accredited by the National Research Foundation of Korea: Korean Journal of Early Childhood Education, Korean Journal of Child Studies, Journal of Korea Open Association for Early Childhood Education, Journal of Future Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Education Research & Review, Korea Association of Child Care and Education, Journal of Educational Studies, Korean Journal of Child Education, and Journal of Korean Teacher Education. A summary of the study notes 1) the number of qualitative research articles per year: 78 articles were published in 2007, 86 in 2008, 99 in 2009, 107 in 2010, 104 in 2011, and 40 in the first half of 2012; 2) the research topics focused on ``teachers``, ``teaching learning methods``, and ``curricula and programs``; 3) in terms of qualitative traditions of inquiry, the most frequently employed category (68.7%) was ``general qualitative research``; 4) research participants mostly comprised teachers (40.2%)` and ``young children (38.9%). These figures suggest that the research topics, methods, and participants of qualitative studies in the field of early childhood education need to be more diversified. To achieve this, the current supportive circumstances for qualitative research and qualitative researchers should be reinforced.
