내외통제성과 우연에 대한 지각이 대학생 삶의 만족도에 미치는 효과 연구 = A Study on the Effects of Locus of Control and the Perception of Happenstance on Life Satisfaction of College Students

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was performed to examine the effect of locus of control on the life satisfaction of college students and the role of happenstance perception in mediating the relationship between locus of control and life satisfaction. The results indicate that students with more internal locus of control showed higher satisfaction in life than those with more external locus of control. Also, it was found that perception of happenstance mediated the effect of locus of control on life satisfaction. Specifically, higher internal locus of control increased positive perception of happenstance, which, in turn, predicted higher life satisfaction. Controlling for happenstance perception, the effect of locus of control on life satisfaction significantly diminished. A need for further studies on factors affecting life satisfaction, implications, and applications of the perception of happenstance are discussed.
