The purpose of this study is periodization of the history of Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) theories and systemization of its characters of the times by illuminate the history of the CSR theories. This study was especially carried out the history of the CSR theories at the first internally and externally. it systematized the theories at the first, too. It established the history as five ages; the first is a quickening period, the background of the CSR theories, the second is a formation period, the third is a growth period, the fourth is a controversy period and the last is a fixation period. In addition, it suggested bearing that practice problems based on the history of the CSR theories and new paradigm of the CSR of the 21st century as subsequent development. The objective of this thesis is concerned with the social responsibility of business [the social role of business]. First it examines the historical background on it and discuss views of various scholars through the literature review. and then it studies the current social responsibilities of business in the countries such as the United States, Japan. Finality it proposes the desirable direction for the social responsibility which our business should take and discusses some practical ways to reach it.
