자문화기술지의 이론적 관점과 방법론적 특성에 대한 고찰

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The aim of this paper is to scrutinize methodological possibilities and implications in order to understand and improve schooling. This was achieved by investigating theoretical perspectives and methodological characteristics of emerging autoethnography as a qualitative research methodology. For this purpose, this paper elaborately reviews academic background and concept, philosophical premise, research method and procedures of autoethnography.
First, autoethnography, which is rooted in postmodern philosophy illuminates sociocultural self through combining autobiography and ethnography. In addition, autoethnography emphasizes cultural, social, economical, political, and historical situatedness and positionality of an author rather than an isolated self in terms of epistemological and ontological perspectives. Second, autoethnography represents methodological intimacy in the research method and such procedures as data gathering, data analysis and interpretation, and writing. Autoethnographers who are school members will deeply understand and substantively improve schooling through conducting autoethnographic research.
