외상 후 성장 집단의 판별요인 연구 = A Discriminant Analysis of Posttraumatic Growth

The main attempts taken in this study are as follows: (a) identification of the features of the psychosocial factors that would differentiate the high posttraumatic growth group (PTG-high; n = 26) from the low posttraumatic growth group (PTG-low; n = 27), which classified from a total of 164 college students; (b) examination of the extent to which variables, among the ones presumably associated highly with posttaumatic growth, discriminately predict the PTG-high. Accordingly, the psychological characteristics of the PTG groups were analyzed employing the survey including measures of posttraumatic growth, intentional rumination, self-disclosure and social support. The results from multivariate analysis of variance and discriminant function analysis revealed that: (a) although there was no difference in pain during the trauma between the PTG-high and PTG-low, the PTG-high showed higher scores on intentional rumination, self-disclosure and social support as compared to PTG-low, and (b) discriminant function consisting of intentional rumination, self-disclosure and social support was found to discriminate PTG-high from PTG-low with a 93.4% accuracy rate. Lastly, this study ends with discussions of limitations and implications.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 ‘외상 후 성장’ 집단의 심리․사회적 특성을 밝히고, 의도적 반추와 자기개방, 사회적 지지 수준에 따라 외상 후 성장 여부를 판별․예측하는 정도를 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 4년제 대학교에 재학 중인 대학생 164명을 대상으로 수집된 설문 자료를 분석하였다. 외상 후 성장 점수의 평균 1 표준편차를 기준으로 외상 후 성장 집단(26명)과 미 성장 집단(27명)을 구분하고 여러 종속변수 점수상의 차이를 다변량 분산분석과 사후검정으로 비교한 결과, 외상 당시 고통에서는 집단 간 차이가 없었으나 성장 집단이 미 성장 집단에 비해 의도적 반추, 자기개방 및 지각된 사회적 지지 수준이 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 판별분석 결과, 의도적 반추, 자기개방, 사회적 지지가 성장 집단과 미 성장 집단을 판별하는 유의한 설명변수로 확인되었으며, 이 세 변수로 구성된 판별함수가 94.3%의 적중률을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 대학생의 외상 후 성장을 예측할 수 있는 심리․사회적 변수를 경험적으로 확인함으로써 향후 대학생들의 외상 후 성장을 증진하는 프로그램 개발에 시사점을 제공하였다는 데 의의가 있다.
