확증편향 극복을 위한 비판적 사고 중심 교육의 원리 탐구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 문제해결을 위해 주어진 정보의 타당성을 공정하게 판단하는 능력을 비판적 사고의 중요한 요소로 인식하고, 비판적 사고를 저해하는 주요 원인 중 하나인 확증편향을 극복하는 방안을 탐색하였다. 확증편향이란 가설의 진위를 가리거나 문제를 해결할 때 자신의 신념과 일치하는 정보만을 취하고 상반되는 정보는 무시하는 무의식적 사고 성향을 의미한다. 본 연구는 사고의 이중처리구조 관점에서 확증편향을 무의식적이고 자동화된 1유형 사고로 보고, 이와 같은 관점에서 확증편향에 대한 기존 연구를 바탕으로 그 원인과 극복 방안에 대하여 논의하였다. 마지막으로, 수업 내에서 확증편향을 억제하면서 비판적 사고력을 촉진하고자 할 때 활용할 수 있는 교육의 원리들을 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study postulates that fair and objective evaluation of evidence is an essential aspect of critical thinking, and suggests confirmation bias as its main barrier. Confirmation bias is the unconscious tendency to acquire evidence consistent with one"s beliefs while ignoring opposing evidence. This study takes the perspective of the dual-processing system of cognition, and considers confirmation bias to be Type 1 (unconscious, automatic) thinking. Causes and factors influencing confirmation bias were discussed based on existing research. Lastly, principles for reducing confirmation bias when designing learning for critical thinking skills were suggested.
