한국 유아의 창안적 글자쓰기 발달 과정 분석 = The Developmental Process of Invented Spelling for Korean Children

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 글자의 의미를 이해하고 쓰기를 배워가는 과정에서 유아들 자신이 스스로 고안하고 구성해가는 창안적 글자쓰기(invented spelling)의 발달과정이 연령, 성별에 따라 차이가 있는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 3-6세 유아 140명에게 3가지의 쓰기검사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 창안적 글자쓰기의 발달 과정은 총 6단계로 구분되었고, 4, 5세경에 발달이 급속히 이루어지는 것으로 나타났다. 연령차는 5, 6세간을 제외한 모든 연령에서 유의하게 나타났지만, 남녀차는 없었다. 특히 한국 유아는 개별 음 자체보다 음절에 대한 인식이 먼저 발달하는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study focuses on the developmental process of invented spelling, an active and constructive writing activity engaged in by young children. One hundred and forty children, 3 to 6 years of age, were tested in this study. Three tasks were provided to evaluate the level of invented spelling: writing their own names, writing words according to the number of syllables they heard, and writing words according to the sounds they heard. Data were processed by a one-way ANOVA and t-test. The results indicate that the process involved in moving from scribbling to conventional spelling is divided into 6 developmental stages. Age differences between 3 year olds through 6 year olds are statistically significant. However, a Sche´ffe analysis shows that the difference between 5 and 6 year olds is not statistically significant. No significant differences attributable to gender were found in any of the developmental stages.
