읽기 행동에서 어휘 처리 과정과 눈동자의 움직임 = Eye Movement and Lexical Processing During Reading

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 고는 유아의 읽기 행동에서 어휘 접근의 심리적 처리 과정을 이해하는 것이 목적이다. 연구 방법은 읽기 행동에서 일어나는 눈동자 움직임에 관한 연구들을 문헌 고찰하였으며, 특별히 어휘 접근 과정에서 철자 정보와 음운 정보의 활성화의 실재성을 밝히는 연구들에 초점을 맞추었다. 그 결과, 문자 규칙의 심층성(orthoraphic depth)이 얕은 한글과 같은 표음 문자는 철자 정보뿐만 아니라, 음운 정보의 활성화가 거의 확실하며, 특별히 자·모 체계의 원리를 깨달아 모든 저기에 이 원리를 적용시켜 가며 읽기 시작하는 유아들의 읽기에서는 음운 정보가 매우 중요한 요인임이 밝혀졌다. 따라서, 유아들을 위한 한글 읽기 지도에서 음문 지도나 발음 지도는 반드시 포함시켜야 할 중요한 교수 내용이 되어야 할 것을 결론지었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

To ascertain the lexical processing demanded of young children as they read, this study employed a review of the literature on eye movement especially concerned with orthographic and phonological activation in lexical access during the act of reading. Findings strongly suggest that readers use phonologic codes along with orthographic codes in the accessing of words meanings in phonetic languages, or languages of shallow orthographic depth, such as Hangul. Research also suggests that beginning readers, who are just starting to realize the alphabetic principle and are attempting to apply the principle in their reading, use phonological codes rather than orthographic ones to activate the meanings of words. The implication of these findings is that the teaching of phonological awareness and phonics fosters young children's reading abilities.
