가정에서의 유아 조기, 특기교육 현황 및 부모의 인식 = Parents' Perceptions and the Current State Of Very Early Education at Home

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 가정에서 실시하고 있는 유아 조기·특기 교육의 실태를 파악하기 위하여 전국 16개 시·도 지역의 가정을 중심으로 조기·특기 교육의 실시여부, 조기·특기 교육의 종류와 학습형태 및 조기·특기 교육에 대한 부모의 인식 등을 알아보았다. 그 결과 대상 유아 중 86％가 조기·특기 교육을 받고 있었다. 유아들이 가장 많이 받고 있는 조기·특기 교육은 한글, 수학, 영어 등으로 나타났으며, 아주 어린 시기부터 학습을 위한 준비에 중점을 두고 있었다. 부모의 조기·특기 교육에 대한 인식은 유아가 받고 있는 조기·특기 교육의 과목수나 비용과 상관 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Increasing numbers of very young children are being served in more formal, academic instructional settings at home. On the basis of these concerns, the present study surveyed the current state and parents' perception of very early education at home. Questionnaires were mailed to 2600 parents and 2137 responeses were received. Major findings were that over 86％ of the parents reported providing very early educational activities for their children at home or at an institute. Over 3 different kinds of activities were noted. The most highly ranked lessons in order of frequency were Han-gul, math and English, all begun at a very early age in preparation for formal schooling. Mothers' perceptions of very early education were related to expenditure outlay and the number of lessons.
