공동의 의미창출 과정에서의 유아 역할의 재발견 = Neglected contributors : Children's roles in creating shared meanings

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 성인의 역할이 중요시되는 토의활동에서 유아들이 어떤 역할을 하면서 공유된 활동 속에서 서로의 학습에 기여하는지 탐색해 보는 것이다. 연구의 대상은 유치원의 만5세반 유아 33명과 담임교사였으며, 유아들이 자주 경험하는 대인간 문제를 주제로 한 다섯 번의 토론을 기초로 내용 분석을 하였다. 연구 결과 유아들은 학급토론이 적절히 전개되도록 돕는 리더의 역할, 토론의 논리적 전개에 필요한 비판적 편집자의 역할, 친구나 교사의 의견에 지지를 표명함으로써 토론이 순조롭게 이어지도록 하는 지지자의 역할을 한 것으로 나타났다. 유아의 인지적 · 사회적 발달에 있어서 또래간 상호작용과 성인-유아 간 상호작용이 서로 경쟁적 역할을 하기보다는 보완적인 역할을 한다는 관점에서 시사점이 논의되었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to find out children's contributions during group discussion in which a teacher's role has been considered important. The subjects were 33 5-year olds and their head teacher. The five discussions which took place among the children and the teacher focused on some common interpersonal issues that often arise between children of that age. The discussions were audiotaped, transcribed, and the content analyzed. The results showed that the children played various roles in these discussions such as that of a leader who aids in the smooth progress of the discussion, an editor who might be needed to provide a critical voice to help the discussion unfold logically, as well as the occasional supportive voice to an important argument being made. The implications of these findings were discussed in terms of the perspective that child-to-child interactions and adult-to-child interactions should be viewed as being complementary to one another rather than competitive.
