유치원 교육과정에 기초한 유아관찰척도 개발에 관한 연구 = Development of an Observational Scale for Children based on the Korean National Kindergarten Curriculum

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 제5차 유치원 교육 과정에 기초하여 유아 평가를 하기 위한 도구 개발을 목적으로 하였다. 유아관찰척도는 유아의 행동 특성을 1, 2, 3, 4단계 중의 하나로 구분하여 평정하는 네 단계 기술 평정 척도로 개발되었으며, 척도의 문항은 유치원 교육 과정의 5개 생활 영역에 기초하여 만 3세부터 5세에 이르는 유아의 발달 수준을 고려하여 선정되었다. 관찰 척도의 문항은 전문가 심의를 거쳐 내용 타당도가 검토되었으며, 4개 유치원의 193명 유아를 대상으로 한 예비 실시 자료 분석을 거쳐 선정되었다. 이와 같은 절차에 의해 개발된 유아관찰척도는 5개 생활 영역별로 8∼9문항으로 구성되었다. 최종적으로 선정된 42문항으로 구성된 유아관찰척도는 타당도와 신뢰도, 변별도 면에서 양호한 것으로 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to develop an Observational Scale for young children based on the 5th Korean National Kindergarten Curriculum. The scale is a 4-point descriptive rating scale with items from the five curriculum areas. The pilot 52-item scale was administered to 193 children, ranging from three to five years of age. Reliability and validity of the scale as well as item analysis were examined. Based on the analyses along with panel reviews, the final 42 items were selected: nine items from the 'Health' and 'Social' areas and eight items each from the 'Expression', 'Language', and 'Exploration' areas. The Cronbach α for the final scale was 95 and, for the five areas, ranged from 78 to 87. Three factors emerged from the scale through factor analyses: involvement and expression of self in various activities, understanding basic concepts, and self-discipline in daily routine. Development trends were revealed in most areas, especially in the Social area. This study demonstrates that this observational scale, with appropriate training, is a valid instrument to assess children's behaviors in kindergartens where the Korean National Kindergarten Curriculum is implemented.
