소득계층간 주거지 분리의 거주지역 특성이 저소득빈곤층의 정신건강에 미치는 영향 = 우울감에 미치는 영향을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

지역사회는 사회구성원의 제반 생활상태에 주요하게 영향을 미치는 사회체계의 하나임에 주목하여, 본 연구에서는 도시 저소득빈곤층 거주지역의 주요 특성인 소득계층간 주거지 분리가 저소득빈곤층의 정신건강 곧 우울감에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 분석에는 전북지역 3개 도시(전주, 익산, 군산)의 소득계층간 주거분리지역(영구임대아파트 단지)및 일반 주거지역에 거주하는 저소득빈곤층을 대상으로 수집한 조사자료를 활용하였다. 분석결과에서는 거주지역에 따라 저소득층의 개인 및 가구 특성에 차이가 있을 뿐 아니라 우울감에도 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 회귀분석결과에서는 계층간 주거지 분리는 저소득빈곤층의 우울감에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었고, Oaxaca와 Ransome(1994)의 분해방법을 적용하여 거주지역간 우울감 격차를 분해한 결과 두 지역의 저소득빈곤층 우울감 격차의 90.45%는 계수효과에 의거한 것으로, 곧 소득계층간 주거지 분리의 거주지역 효과 등에서 비롯된 것으로 확인되었다. 연구결과는 저소득빈곤층의 정신건강에는 개인 및 가구 특성 뿐 아니라 계층간 주거지 분리의 거주지역 환경이 주요하게 영향을 미치고 있음을 보여주는 바로, 저소득빈곤층의 정신건강 및 심리사회적 역량의 강화를 위해서는 거주지역의 열악성(disadvantages)해소를 위한 지역사회의 환경 개선 및 지역사회의 역량 강화를 위한 대책이 적극 필요함을 시사하여 준다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the income residential segregation on the low income classes" mental health in Korea. Recently, there is an increase in the academic interest to the neighborhood"s effects in Korea. But, they are little known to the relation between the residential segregation and the mental health. Using the survey data from the low-income classes who reside in the segregation and non-segregation areas, I analyzed the effects of the income residential segregation on the depression. The results show that there are significant depression scores differences between segregation and non-segregation low-income classes. From results of the OLS regression model analysis, I found that there are significant effects of the income residential segregation on the depression. From the analysis results of applying the Oaxaca & Ransome"s decomposition method(1994), I found that the most of the depression score differentials between segregation and non-segregation areas are due to the neighborhood effects; the effects of the income residential segregation. Findings of this study suggest that it is important to improve the neighborhood disadvantages for the mental health and well-being of the low-income classes who reside in the public housing of the income residential segregation areas.
