탈구성적 재현수단으로서의 문자의 시각성 = The visuality of the letter as a deconstructive reproduction method

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study is focused on the functional expansion of letters as vehicle for the meaning. Traditionally, type or letter is used for understanding the specific meaning and reflection of various meaning structure. On the other hand, letters are the core object for disconnecting relationship between word and meanings. This revolutionary manipulation is all about language structure and methodological process. The early state of the 21st century in European area as a western society, they had experienced social, economic and ideological transitional period. The core concept to change the whole social structure is centered avant-garde movement. The authority which was continued through the society was broken down by the artist having opponent minds. Verbal language is very keen to general letter using method. However, in the artistic transition period it is the target for the various usages. Futurist and Dada visual artist expressed their strong intention to make letter or type have visuality and visibility. Their final goal was change the language to object in general. Onomatopoeic-poem, phonetic-poem and spelling-poem have experience methodological manipulations and finally they are regarded as imaginary-letters. This core-prototype can be the position of initiative starting point of the whole 20th century’s type application.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 언어의 기호적 발현인 문자가 의미전달과 파악이라는 전통적인 기능에서 확장되어 시각성을 가진 형태로서 변형되는 역사적인 맥락을 연구의 중심으로 삼아 단어와 의미의 연결이라는 전통적인 언어구조에 대한 혁신의 의의와 그 방법론적인 과정을 규명하는데 그 의의를 두고자 한다. 20세기 초 유럽을 중심으로 한 서구사회는 이념적 혹은 사회 경제적 변혁기를 경험하게 되는데 그 변혁의 중심에는 기존 예술가들의 시각적 표현에서 나타나게 되는 의미를 중심으로 한 ‘권위’의 유지와 그것을 전복시키려하는 아방가르드 사조와의 충돌이 발생한다. 음성언어의 충실한 반영으로서의 문자는 그러한 예술사적 전환기를 경험하면서 다양한 방법으로 이해되고 사용되어지는데 특히, 미래파와 다다를 중심으로 발생한 문학적 아방가르드는 문자를 의미의 굴레에서 벗어나 시각성을 가진 객관적인 오브젝트로 변환시키려는 의지를 표방한다. 의성시, 음성시, 철자시 등의 방법적 변형을 거친 문자는 결국 ‘이미지화된 문자로’로 귀결되어지며 이는 20세기 전반을 지배한 텍스트의 근원적인 기능 분화에 시발점으로서의 역할을 하게 된다.
