North Korean intellectuals play a central role in economic reforms, precisely speaking pro-government reforms, although their job is different from that of the intellectuals in Eastern Europe who led the transition to capitalism. North Korean intellectual are performing the role of the ideologues who ward off Western cultures and reformers introducing advanced technology in globalization. Deviating form the socialist conception of intellectuals, North Korean intellectuals have the status of revolution subjects like proletariats. Based on the class theory, North Korean Political leaders mobilized intellectuals to process of revolution and construction. Kim Jong-il. North Korea`s current supreme leader, launched restricted reform policy to make a powerful and prosperous country. North Korean government recently mobilized intellectuals to reform the economic sector and counteract the ideological agitation caused by reforms and open policy. The global phenomenon of constructing the industry structure with focus on knowledge and information is going to strengthen the role of intellectuals, while feeding North Korea`s concern that the high-tech information industry would promote the status of the intellectuals.
