    The term "idiom" or "idiomatic/frozen expression" is very broad and can include such
    concepts as proverbs and polysemy. If we consider idioms merely from the viewpoint of shift in meaning, there are many words which can be classified as idioms, but we treat these as polysemy, a simple expansion of a single word, and exclude them from the present discussion.
    First, we have tried to present the tentative system of classification for the syntactic description of Korean idioms which are frozen centered around a verb. The principle that we apply in this paper for the analysis is that of lexicon-grammar of M. Gross: to describe the structure and the properties of idiomatic constructions in the same formal method as common simple sentences. Secondly, we have explained how to represent the semantic types of Korean frozen expressions through the analysis of idioms with a body-noun such as '눈', '손', '입' etc.
