조선조 후기 사대부가 기록한 아내의 일생 : 행장 26편으로 본 내조(內助)의 힘

국문 초록 (Abstract)

한국문집총간 전집과 속집을 통틀어서 찾은 「망실행장(亡室行狀)」 은 17세기부터 19세기말까지 모두 26편이 전한다. 이 26편을 대상으로 양반가의 결혼과 사별 연령, 그리고 부덕(婦德)의 항목들을 고찰해보았다. 행장의 부덕 항목은 아내의 가계나 생장과정 및 타고난 품덕에 대한 서술, 묘소위치 정도를 제외하면 계녀서(戒女書)에서 권장하는 부덕의 항목과 일치한다.'시부모 섬기기, 제사 받들기, 손님 대접하기, 일가화목하기, 종들 잘 다스리기, 태교 및 육아, 이웃과의 예절, 치신(治産), 남편 섬기기' 같은 항목이다. 행장(行狀)은 망자(亡者)에 대한 객관적 사실 외에 제문(祭文)에서나 털어놓을 수 있는 기록자의 심회(心懷)나 두 사람간의 추억, 생활 일화 같은 것이 풍부하게 포함된다. 따라서 남편이 쓴 아내의 행장에는 아내의 내조에 대한 특별한 감사와, 아내를 추억하는 남편만의 감정적 특징이 드러나 있다. 양반층 남편들이 아내에 대해 특별히 감사한 항목은 치산(治産), 남편에 대해 정직하게 충고하고 조언을 해준 일, 시집살이의 인고(忍苦)였다. 조선시대 「망실행장」 26편을 통해 우리가 볼 수 있었던 갓은 전형적 유교가부장제를 실현하고 있는 양반층 부부의 모습이었다. 유교가부장제의 부부상을 확인함으로써 시대에 따라 변화된 부부상을 모색할 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

There are 26 records of a deceased wife's life in The korean collection of works from l7C to 19C. I studied the items of marriage, separation by wife''s death and female virtues in this 26 records of a deceased wife's life.
The records of a deceased wife's life and her epitaph have something in common with a form and a content. The female virtue items written in the records of a deceased wife's life are same except for his wife's family, a growth process and a tomb location. The items are parents-in-low supporting, memorial service for the ancestors, guest entertainment, management of household affairs and the education of her children.
Nevertheless the records of a deceased wife's life have husband's mind for his wife, the memory of his wife and rich store of anecdotes. Therefore the records of a deceased wife's life contain husband's gratitude for his wife and husband's special memory of his wife. Specially, he thanks for the management of household affairs, suitable advise and her endurance.
I can discover the noble couple's figure in the latter part of Joseon Dynasty through 26 records of a deceased wife's life. Even though the times change, the custom rarely change. Now it is time to find the new couple model which gets out Confucian patriarchy.
