국문 초록 (Abstract)

먼저 정토수행으로는 믿음이 가장 중요하다. 극락정토와 아미타불의 존재에 대한 믿음 없이는 극락왕생과 깨달음을 인정할 수 없다. 첫째는 『無量壽經』의 “至心信樂欲生我國乃至十念”을 중심으로 信과 願과 回向을 살펴보았다. 실은 참으로 지극한 마음으로 믿기만 하여도 이미 모든 수행은 완성되었다고 볼 수도 있다. 둘째는 信心이 없는 사람이나 임종자를 위하여 가장 쉽게 수행할 수 있는 방법으로 아미타불의 명호를 듣기만 해도 왕생이 가능하다고 한다. 셋째는 정토교의 가장 대표적인 수행방법은 염불수행이다. 이를 제18원의 乃至十念을 중심으로 칭명염불에 대해서 살펴보았다. 넷째는 염불선수행은 한국불교에서 가장 많이 행해지고 있는 방법이다. 禪修行을 표방하는 수행자들이 많이 실천하고 있는 방법으로 이를 觀念念佛, 禪淨雙修, 念佛公案의 수행법으로 분류해 보았다. 이는 觀察門에 해당한다. 다섯째는 참회와 지계수행에 대해서 살펴보았다. 참회의 방법으로 널리 행하는 것은 예배, 절이며, 지계는 오계와 팔재계, 구족계 등의 수지를 말한다. 이와 같은 정토수행법은 가장 쉬운 믿음에서부터 聞名과 稱名, 觀念, 念佛禪, 懺悔와 持戒 등 다양하다. 이는 누구나 시간과 공간에 구애받지 않고 실천할 수 있는 방법으로 현대인들에게 가장 적합한 수행법으로 생각된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The most essential element of the Pure Land practice is the faith on the Pure Land of Happiness(極樂淨土)and Amita Buddha, which makes it possible to acknowledge rebirth in paradise(極樂往生) and enlightenment. First of all, this article contemplates faith(信), vow(願) and a Buddhist memorial(回向) focusing on JiSyimSinYoYokSaengAhGookNaeJiSyipNyum(至心信樂欲生我國乃至十念) in 『MooRyangSooGyung(無量壽經)』. In fact, all the Buddhist practices can be thought to be already completed only with sincere faith. Secondly, this is the easiest way for people with no religious conviction or the dying to practice. Only listening to the words Amita Buddha enables people who recite it for rebirth in paradise. Third, the practice of the invocation is the one that represents all the practices taught in Pure Land sect. The Buddhist invocation of the names of Buddhas(稱名念佛) is examined in this article focusing on NaeJiSyipNyum(乃至十念). Fourth, the invocation practice is the most common Buddhist practice that is performed in Korean Buddhism. This is especially advocated by people who follow Seon practice of Buddhism. This article attempted to classify it into GwanNyumYumBul(觀念念佛), SeonJeongYumBul(禪定念佛), and YumBulGongAn(念佛公案), which come under GwanChalMoon(觀察門). Fifth, repentance(懺悔) and Buddhist commandments(持戒) are examined. Buddhist rituals and bows are the most common ways of repentance and commandments such as five commandments(五戒), eight commandments(八齋戒), GooJock commandments(具足戒). There is a wide variety of Pure Land practices from the faith on Pure Land which is the easiest way, to MyungMoon(聞名) and ChingNyum(稱念), and to GwanNyum(觀念), YumBoolSeon(念佛禪), repentance(懺悔) and commandments(持戒). As described above, this Pure Land practice can be the most suitable practice for modern people as a way of practicing Buddhism with no hindrance of time and space.
