Many science educators have explored student's preconceptions about natural phenomena and found that many of preconceptions were different from scientific conceptions. They, also, have investigated how student's conceptions are formed and changed
From those studies, science educators have new perspectives about science education: constructivism by which learning is defined as conceptual change.
In this study, major concerns are focused to cognitive conflict which is one
of the processes of conceptual change. By reviewing and critically analysing of view of Piaget, Hashweb, and Kwon, major concepts about cognitive conflict are redefined and more detailed models of cognitive conflicts are proposed with various concrete examples.
There are many other important issues as well as cognitive conflict about
conceptual change. So various future study tasks are proposed.
