The study of the collective unconsciousness by C. G. Jung provides us the new dimension of meaning to understand human behavior.
According to Jung, the collective unconsciousness is the common and ubiquitous power that influences all human beings. The purpose of this article is to examine the concept and meaning of the collective unconsciousness and archetype. The method 1 shall follow is to analyze the work of C. G. Jung and the reference documents. I have pointed out several things in this article.
First, the collective unconsciousness is a part of the human mind and exists due to inheritance. The collective unconsciousness reflects the ubiquitous experience and history of species. Hence it is different from individual unconsciousness. The collective unconsciousness always influences the consciousness. but people generally do not know it. The discovery of the collective unconsciousness was evaluated to be an excellent achievement by C. G. Jung.
Second. the archetype is the content of the unconsciousness. The content of the archetype is revealed by images. The archetype is the principle that resides in the human mind. The archetype importantly influences the development of the personality. Third. the archetype includes persona. anima. amimus, shadow and Self. Persona is the archetype of conformity.
