매개적 사유와 사회인문학의 철학적 기초 = The Mediating Thought and the Philosophical Foundation of Social Humanities

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 헤겔의 변증법적 사유의 핵심이라 할 매개의 사유의 중요성을 입증함에 의해 ‘사회인문학’의 철학적 기초를 해명해보는 작업이다. ‘사회인문학’은 인문학의 위기 담론을 넘어 인문학의 위기를 극복하기 위해 내세우는 대안적 인문학의 하나이다. ‘사회인문학’은 연세대학교 국학연구원 HK사업단이 전면에 내걸은 대안 인문학이다. ‘사회인문학’이란 인문학 본연의 성찰성, 공공성, 비판성을 회복하려는 뜻을 포함하고 있다. 즉 ‘사회인문학’은 총체적 학문으로서 인문학이 지닌 성찰적 시선과 사회적 소통 능력을 확대함으로써 비판적 인문성의 회복을 추구하는 새로운 관점이자 방법론으로서 제안된 것이다. 연세대학교 국학연구원 HK 사업단은 2008년부터 ‘21세기 실학으로서의 사회 인문학’이라는 아젠다를 중심으로 연구를 진행해오고 있는데, 이 글은 사회인문학의 내실을 다지기 위해 사회인문학의 지평을 철학적으로 탐색하는 것이다. 아울러 이 글에서 필자는 현재 중요하게 다루어지는 비판적 사유의 흐름들의 한계들을 보편과 특수의 매개의 문제라는 관점에서 다루고 있다. 필자는 보편과 특수의 관계에 대한 불철저한 사고가 현재의 주도적인 비판이론의 핵심 문제점이라고 생각하고 있다. 그러므로 인문학의 비판성과 성찰성 그리고 사회성을 회복하기 위해 제기된 ‘사회인문학’의 철학적 기초를 다지는 작업에서 헤겔의 매개의 사유를 다시 적극적으로 전유해야 할 필요성이 있다는 입장을 옹호한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The objective of this thesis is to elucidate the philosophical foundation of ‘Social Humanities’ by arguing the importance of the mediating thought, which is the key point of the Hegelian dialectic thought. “Social Humanities” is one of the alternative humanities proposed to move beyond discussing the crisis of humanities to overcome it. “Social Humanities” is the alternative humanities proudly presented by the HK Project Research Team, Institute of Korean Studies, Yonsei University. The term “Social Humanities” represents our intent to restore the inherently reflective, public, and critical aspects of humanities. Thus “Social Humanities” is a comprehensive study as well as a new perspective and methodology that was proposed to restore the critical aspect of the humanities by expanding on its reflective perspective and socially communicative aspects. Since 2008, the HK Project Research Team at Yonsei University’s Institute of Korean Studies has been running a focused research on the agenda of “Social Humanities as the 21st Century’s Silhak”, and this thesis seeks to explore the horizon of social humanities through philosophy in order to reinforce the its fundamentals. In addition, the author delves into the problems in the flows of critical thinking-which is currently the subject of much attention-from the perspective that they are problems in the mediation of the particular and the universal. The author believes the incomplete consideration of the relationship between the universal and the particular is the main shortcoming of the current leading critical theories. Thus the author supports the idea that we must actively incorporate Hegel’s mediating thought in solidifying the philosophical basis of “Social Humanities”, which was presented to restore the critical, reflective and social aspects of humanities.
