      The nature has been dominated and destroyed over the past decade while human being has recognized the nature as an independent object which can be separated from the subject who has been living with the nature. It is no doubt that human being has made an every effort to develop and make an efficient use of the nature for making progress using advanced technology. However, the unpleasant consequences and remaining vestiges resulting from the nature destroyed by human being are absolutely unexampled in the history of this century. A ecological alternative against ecological crisis has been explored from the practical perspectives as well as the academic perspectives beyond environmental movement. As one of the efforts to escape from the dilemma, the historical background and the nature of knowledge ecology are introduced in line with paradigm shift from mechanical to ecological, followed by critical analysis and discussion of the limitations of and problems with knowledge management from the ecological ways of thinking. The main field of study and research topics of knowledge ecology as harmony with the conceptual model for integrating ``delightful`` learning, ‘healthy’ knowledge, ``meaningful`` performance, and ‘happy’ workplace are discussed. Through this research, the major constructs of ecological systems are investigated by an exploratory document research to identify the principles of sustainability for knowledge ecosystems. Four key principles of knowledge flow such as self-organizing knowledge and delightful learning, interdependence and healthy knowledge, the interdependent relationship of one to two and ``meaningful`` performance, hybrid, the law for crossing two breeds and ‘happy’ workplace are provided for further research on how to make bridge between knowledge and ecology. In the long run, the ultimate purpose of this research is to identify the main operating principles of and mechanism for ecological systems and apply those to knowledge recycling process. Finally, the disciplinary significance of ecological educational technology is discussed in the process of building the field of knowledge ecology with its own research area and scope.
