This study was conducted to identify multimedia characteris tics and examined the causal relationship among these characteris tics and other possible learning outcomes. Thirty univers ity students played 11 CD- titles and answered to a questionnaire. As a result of factor analys is, five dis tinctive factors were identified : `` media des ign``, usability``, `` interactivity``, `` interest/motivation``, and `` learnability`` . The results of path analys is indicated that among these factors, only the `` interactivity`` factor is directly related to the `` learnability`` and `` media design`` factor is indirectly related to the `` learnability`` via `` interes t/motivation`` . The results are dis cussed in the perspective of s ituated cognition and interes t/motivation.
