시각문화의 브리콜라주로서 미디어 리터러시 재고 = Reconsidering media literacy through bricolage of visual culture

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 뉴미디어의 리터러시를 함양하기 위한 수업에서 출발하였다. 정보의 홍수라고 불리는 인터넷 소스들을 창작의 재료로 설정하고 기존 정보를 자신의 관점과 내러티브에 맞게 재구성하는 제작 수업을 진행하였다. 수업의 모티브가 된 작업 방식은 미개인이 주변에 있는 부족한 자원들을 자신의 삶을 영위하는 다양한 도구로 통합, 전용하는 능력인 브리콜라주와 유사하다. 브리콜라주의 지평에서 미디어 리터러시는 사물과 정보에 내재한 새로운 가능성을 발견하고 다른 관계 속에 배치함으로써 창조적인 제작이 가능한 능력으로 재사유될 수 있다. 연구는 브리콜라주적 작업이 왜 시각문화교육의 한 대안일 수 있는지, 브리콜라주의 역량은 어떤 가능성을 내포하는지를 현대미술, 비평이론, 철학 개념과 연관 지어 다각적으로 검토하고 있다. 더불어 이 연구는 시각문화교육이 점차 방임하고 있는 제작 행위의 중요성뿐만 아니라 창작을 통해 새로운 사회적 관계를 구성하는 ‘관계적 미학’의 가능성을 제안한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to promote the media literacy for preservice teachers. I assume that we live in the spectacle society including excessive information. This paper suggests that those situation could be a platform for art production and learning media literacy in alternative aspect. I insist that to learn how to make media art is to know how to deal with those abundant data on the net. I chose the meaning and manner of bricolage, Levi-Strauss's concept, and applied it to learning of media literacy. Bricolage is a technique where works are constructed from various materials available or on hand. Understanding bricolage can make student to deal with the digital image data and real objects together.
From this point of view, media literacy can be reconstruct by the abilities of vision that can see the immanent possibility of resources and reorganizing those things. This paper delves into the background of bricolage and contemporary art, why the that method can be the alternative for visual culture education through the help of the achievement form art theory, artist, and philosophy. Over there, this paper insists the relational aesthetics, coined by art critic N. Bourriaud. Relational aesthetics call our attention to the importance of creative production in visual culture education and social relationship among the learners and the audience.
