다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

Along with the worsening situation of youth unemployment, an increasing group of young generation has recently received much social attention. They are called parasite singles who refer to non-married single children aged 25-40, economically depending upon their parents. This study examined the prevalence of parasite singles in Korea and their living conditions family relations, through which it would suggest important bases for effective social interventions for problems facing parasite singles and their family. The results of the study can be summarized as follows: (1) about 34% of the sample have parasite singles in their family, indicating that the prevalence of parasite singles cannot be overlooked any longer; (2) the main reason of parasite singles for depending upon their parents is not having married, although economic independence matters more for male parasite singles than for female parasite singles; (3) the satisfaction level of parent-child relation is generally high among parasite singles and their parents, as opposed to public concerns and (4) among characteristics of parasite singles, age, education level, and labor market participation are proven to be significantly associated with the parent-child relation, while parental age and education level are also related to the satisfaction level.
