This study explores the correlation between adolescents` reader perception and reading practices surveying 98 middle school students in Seoul. The survey shows that adolescents` perceive themselves as a good reader in their study-centered lives and parents also support adolescents` reading. School library plays a central role in adolescents` reading, so the vitalization of school library can make a positive influence on it. Reading interest, reading quantity and reading time are generally good. In case they regard themselves as a good reader they do not prefer any particular book. Reader perception has a meaningful correlation with reading interest, reading time and reading quantity. Thus it is formed being influenced by affective domain such as reading interest and also by reading time and reading quantity and positive reading perception promotes reading practices. Adolescents think extensive reading as a more positive tendency rather than biased reading. However there is a conflict between adolescents` preference and parents` attitude in comics, fantasy novels, and mystery novels. Adolescents practice toward a good reader`s perception which they pursue. Also adolescents` reader perception can be formed positively only when they practice a reader`s role that they want to be. Reading education should be carried out supporting adolescents` reader perception to help them grow up as an independent reader that they can do a main role in reading.
