한국 초·중등 영어 교사 양성 및 재 양성 기관 교과과정 탐색 연구 = An exploratory study of curricula in English teacher (pre-service and in-service) training programs for primary and secondary schools in Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to examine curricula in teacher training institutes for primary and secondary school English teachers in Korea. On the basis of teaching standards provided by various councils for teacher education/evaluation systems of America and Korea, the present study proposes seven standards for English teaching profession. Further, the study investigates how these professional teaching/ evaluation standards are reflected in the contents of curricular of colleges and graduate schools of education for cultivating English teachers with professionalism and teaching excellence. The results of the study demonstrate that each professional institution for English teachers seems to need to develop systematic and balanced curricular between the contents, teaching methods, and evaluation. It is also suggested that more research to establish specific and clear performance standards for consolidating teaching expertise and teacher evaluation should be conducted.
