제주노인의 성생활 실태와 성문제 해결방안 = A Study on the Status of Jeju Elderly’s Sexuality Life and Resolving Related Issues

The purpose of this study is to identify the issue of the Jeju Elderly’s sexuality life, which recently emerged as a serious issue. A research was conducted on 287 Jeju Elderly, who were surveyed about their levels of sexual demands, usage of sex cultures, and means of sexual expression. Results were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 12.0 program. First of the findings was that senior males who maintained a healthy and young sexuality life tended to regard sexuality life important. Senior males with spouses who are more educated, healthier, and younger experienced more sexuality life. Younger, healthier, more educated, and married senior males had a more positive perception of sex where older, less educated, and unmarried senior females had a negative attitude towards sex. The most common means of sexual expression was suppression and males were more likely to engage in sexual activity with the opposite sex where alternative means of sexual expression were love relationships and hobbies for male and female, respectively. Transition of children and the society’s perception of health marked the highest response when asked what could be done to resolve sex issues. Based on these findings, the following measures may be taken in order to resolve the sexual life issues of the Jeju Eldery: publish sexual education manual for the elders, form a healthy sex culture to relieve sexual desires and spread it through various senior facilities to prevent illegal sexual activities, offer healthy sexual expression programs such as remarriage, hobbies, religion, and relationships, offer sex consulting for the elderly, and protect the financial and physical rights of the elders by raising the punishment against selling fake drugs to the elderly.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 사회문화적인 변화와 역사적 특성으로 인해 최근 심각한 노인문제로 부각된 제주노인의 성문제의 실태를 파악하여 해결방안을 모색하기 위하여 제주노인 287명을 대상으로 성욕구 수준, 성문화 이용실태, 성욕구 표현 및 해소방법 등을 조사하여 SPSS/WIN 12.0 프로그램으로 분석하였다. 첫째, 건강하고 젊고 성생활을 유지하고 있는 남성노인이 성생활에 대한 중요성도 높게 인식하고 있었고 성문화의 경험은 젊고 건강하고 고학력의 유배우자와 성생활을 유지하고 있는 남성노인이 더 많은 경험을 하고 있다. 성에 대한 태도로는 젊고 건강한 고학력자. 유배우자인 남성노인이 긍정적이었고 고령, 저학력자, 무배우자, 여성노인이 부정적이었다. 성욕구 표현방법으로는 참고 넘긴다가 전체적으로 높았고 남자는 이성과의 성행위가 다소 높았으며 성욕구 해소방법으로는 남자는 이성교제, 여자는 여가활동이 많았으며 성문제 해결을 위해 필요한 것은 자녀와 사회의 인식전환이 가장 높게 조사되었다. 이와 같은 결과를 토대로 제주노인의 성문제 해결을 위한 방안으로는 노인전용 성교육 매뉴얼을 개발하여 보급해야 하며 성욕구 해소를 위해 건전한 성문화를 개발하여 노인여가복지시설을 통해 보급함으로써 음성적인 성매매의 위험성을 예방하고, 노인들을 위한 이성교제, 재혼, 여가활동, 종교 활동과 같은 건전한 성욕구 표현프로그램을 운영하며 노인 성교육이나 성문화 체험을 위한 노인들만의 전용공간을 마련해야 할 것이다. 여기에 노인 성상담소를 설치․운영하고 동시에 노인에게 성이나 약품을 판매하는 자에 대한 강력한 처벌을 통해 노인들의 재정적, 신체적 손해를 보호해야 할 것이다.
