탈북 청소년의 남한학교 적응 = The Adjustment of North Korean Refugee Youths in South Korean Schools

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study looked at the adjustment of North Korean Refugee Youths in South Korean schools, and analyzes their major difficulties. A survey was done on 79 North Korean refugee children and adolescents who have been settling in the South for 6 months to 2 and half years. Indepth interviews were also conducted with 20 persons including the youths, their teachers, and their parents. The results indicated that primary school-aged children were mostly attending schools with moderate adjustment. But only 38% of the adolescents were attending high schools, and many were facing serious adjustment problems including academic achievement, friendship relations and psychological problems. Based on these findings, some suggestions for intervention programs are discussed.
