가족 및 학교 내 사회자본과 학업성취 = The Effect of Social Capital within Family and School on the Student's Academic Achieveme

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 한국청소년패널조사(Korea Youth Panel Survey) 2차년도 데이터를 사용하여 구조방정식모형을 통해 가족 및 학교 내 사회자본이 학업성취에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 구조방정식모형의 분석 결과에 따르면, 사회자본은 가족의 사회경제적 배경, 사교육경험 등의 변인과 함께, 학생의 학업성취에 영향을 미치는 주요 변인으로 판명되었다. 그리고 사회자본은 가족의 사회경제적 배경의 학업성취에 대한 영향을 상당 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 그런데 사회자본의 직접효과 및 가족의 사회경제적 배경에 대한 매개효과는 남학생보다는 여학생에게, 그리고 어머니가 직업을 가진 경우보다 전업주부인 경우에 더 큰 것으로 밝혀졌다. 한편 가족 내 사회자본과 비교할 때, 학교 내 사회자본의 학업성취에 대한 영향력은 상대적으로 약한 것으로 드러났다.

Analyzing a sample from Korea Youth Panel Survey(KYPS) with structural equation model, this study attempts to explore the effect of social capital within family and school on the student's academic achievement. The results of structural equation model show that social capital, along with family background and experience of private education, plays a significant role in student’s getting higher academic achievement. And the results also indicate that social capital mediates the effect of family background on student’s academic achievement considerably. But the direct effect and the mediating effect of social capital is greater when student is female than male and student's mother is a full-time housewife than a working woman. In the meantime, comparing with social capital within family, social capital within school has less effect on student’s academic achievement.
