백워드 설계의 초등 수업 적용 가능성 탐색 = In Search of the Applicability of Backward Design to Elementary Classroom

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As the fundamental purpose of developing curriculum, the authentic understanding of the contents of subjects is the basic aims in classroom instruction. To achieve this aims, recently the Ministry of Education Science and Technology demands accountability from teachers. To improve the achievement of the elementary students in this circumstances, teachers are asked to change their teaching in classroom instruction for the first thing. Revising the problems of the elementary education which is teaching focused on each periods rather than the whole unit, the lack of the obvious perception of the objectives of the learner and teaching only focused on activity-based instruction without recognition of the objectives, the elementary students' achievement will be improved. With this background, this study searches the applicability of backward design which firstly invented by McTighe and Wiggins to elementary classroom. For this, the characteristics and each stages of the backward design is studied and the modified version of the backward design is suggested to apply the template which McTighe and Wiggins devised to elementary school. Furthermore backward design for Korean curriculum is presented, also, some noticeable points to apply it.
