대인신뢰에 대한 가치관과 단체참여의 영향: 어떤 가치관과 단체참여가 사회적 자본을 배태시키나? = The Influence of Values and Involvement in Voluntary Organizations on Interpersonal Trust: What Values and Networks are Social Capital?

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Not all social norms and networks are social capital. What kinds of norms and networks are social capital? In order to be social capital, a social norm or network must not negatively affect interpersonal trust. Using the data of the fourth World Value Survey, the influence of social values and participation in voluntary organizations on interpersonal trust are analyzed on the national level. Schwartz's community values and attitudes against free-riding promote interpersonal trust. Although participation in voluntary organizations forms social networks, I expected that their effects on interpersonal trust could differ according to the characteristics of voluntary organizations. However, I could not find a theoretically meaningful difference. Rather, participation in a labor union is an important factor in increasing interpersonal trust.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

모든 규범과 네트워크가 다 사회적 자본은 아니다. 이 연구는 제4차 세계가치관조사 자료를 활용한 국가수준의 거시적 분석으로서 다양한 가치관과 단체참여들이 사회적 자본의 증진에 기여할 가능성을 대인신뢰에 미치는 영향을 통해 탐색한다. 가치관과 단체참여는 적어도 대인신뢰를 해치지 않아야 사회적 자본성을 가진 규범과 네트워크를 사회적 관계에 배태시킨다고 볼 수 있다. 첫째, 반무임승차적 가치관과공존공영적 가치관이 높은 나라에서 대인신뢰가 높았다. 이들 가치는 사회적 관계에 호혜적 규범을 배태시켜 궁극적으로 대인신뢰를 증진시키는 것으로 해석된다. 둘째, 노동단체 참여가 높은 나라에서 대인신뢰가 높았다. 사회적 자본성이 가장 클 것으로 추론된 시민단체 참여의 대인신뢰에 대한 긍정적 영향을 발견할 수 없었던 반면에 가장 낮을 것으로 추론된 노동단체 참여가 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 또한 종교단체 참여가 대인신뢰에 부정적인 영향을 미칠 개연성을 보인 반면에 일부 기존연구와 마찬가지로 여가단체 참여가 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 개연성을 보여주었다. 무엇보다도 노동단체 참여가 대인신뢰의 제고에 기여한다는 사실에 주목해야 한다. 단체참여가 사회적 자본에 미치는 영향은 매우 복잡하고 심층적인 현상이어서 새로운 분류체계를 개발하여 더욱 엄정하게 분석할 필요가 있다.
