이야기 방식을 통한 북한 체제 정당화 연구 -총서 불멸의 력사 와 영화 <조선의 별>을 중심으로- = A Study on Literary Features of the Series the History of Immortality and Public Persuasion Strategies of the Revolutionary Arts -Focusing on the Film The Star of Chosun

This paper purposes to define literary features of the series the History of Immortality as a canon for North Korean society and to clarify the meanings of the films as a strategy to popularize the Revolutionary History, especially of the film titled The Star of Chosun, which is evaluated as an exemplary model for figuration of the Great Leader. The series the History of Immortality is differentiated from other literary works in that it contained histories asserted by North Korea and proposed figuration of the Great Leader in earnest. North Korea regards the series nearly as the Bible going beyond the acme of literature. Since the History of Immortality puts `the historical facts of anti-Japan revolutionary combats` asserted by North Korea into a novel series, it is political to contain more historical facts than fictions. Thus the series has significance more as a canon dealing with history than as the summation of literary works. Kim Il-Sung`s anti-Japan revolutionary armed combats are the primary material for North Korean literary arts, whose most critical task is `figuration of the Great Leader.` North Korean literary arts select novels and films based on political ideology education and internalization of how and from what status the Great Leader should be interpreted, and then make the public recognize his figures reproduced through those novels and films as the legitimate history. For education and internalization of the revolutionary history, North Korean authorities consolidate historicity and legitimacy by reconstructing repetitively the revolutionary histories in various genres of literary arts including novels and films. The series the History of Immortality takes a role of the original text for this work of popularization.
