기혼남녀의 자기분화와 결혼만족도가 정신건강에 미치는 영향 = The Effect of Self-Differentiation and Marital Satisfaction on Mental Health

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was to examine the direct and indirect effect of self-differentiation on mental health through marital satisfaction, and to investigate the differences in the levels of self-differentiation, marital satisfaction, and mental health between gender. The data were collected through 763 married men and women by using the self-administered questionnaire method. Self-differentiation scale included five factors such as emotional reactivity, I-position, emotional cutoff, fusion with others, and emotional fusion. Mental health measurement consisted of anxiety, depressive mood, somatization, compulsivity, and sensitivity to others. Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) method was used to examine the fitness of the theoretical model to the empirical data. Results showed that there were clear gender differences in the levels of self-differentiation, marital satisfaction, and mental health. It was also found that for both men and women, self-differentiation directly influenced marital satisfaction and mental health, and marital satisfaction mediated the effect of self-differentiation on mental health. The results were discussed in terms of some implication for marital therapy and future research.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 Bowen의 다세대 가족치료 이론을 토대로 기혼남녀가 지각한 자기분화가 정신건강에 미치는 직접 효과 및 결혼만족도를 통한 간접 효과를 검증하는데 초점을 두었다. 이를 위하여 기혼남녀 763명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였고, 성별을 분리하여 구조방정식 모델(Structural Equation Modeling)을 통해 이론적 모형을 검증하였다. 본 연구결과를 요약하면, 첫째 기혼남성이 기혼여성에 비해 자기분화 수준과 결혼만족도가 높았으며, 정신건강의 하위 요인인 신체화, 강박증, 대인예민성, 우울, 불안은 남성보다 여성이 더 높게 지각하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째로 기혼남녀의 자기분화 수준은 결혼만족도와 정적 상관이 있었고, 정신건강의 하위 요인들과는 부적 상관이 있었다. 셋째, 이론적 모형을 검증한 결과, 남성과 여성 모두 자기분화는 정신건강에 직접적인 영향을 미쳤을 뿐 아니라 결혼만족도를 통해 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 결혼만족도가 자기분화와 정신건강의 관계를 매개하는 유의한 변수로 밝혀졌다. 즉 자기분화 수준이 높을수록 결혼만족도와 정신건강 수준이 더 높았으며, 결혼만족도가 높을수록 정신건강 수준이 더 높은 것으로 나타나 Bowen의 이론이 입증되었다. 본 연구결과는 개인의 정신건강 및 부부간 적응을 위해서 무엇보다 자기분화의 촉진이 필요하다는 측면에서 논의되었다.
