초등학교 교사들의 통합교육 운영실태와그 활성화 방안 = Current Status of Operating the Integrated Curriculum by Elementary teachers and Ways of Activating Its Operation

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 초등학교 교사들의 통합교육 운영 실태를 파악하고 통합교육을 실시하는데 따른 문제점과 저해 요인을 밝히며, 통합교육을 활성화하는 방안을 제시 하는 것이었다. 연구방법으로는 수업 관찰과 면담 방법을 사용하였다. 연구 결과 상당 수의 교사들은 통합교육에 대해 높은 관심을 갖고 있고, 학생 중심의 교육으로 이해 하고 있었다. 그러나, 통합교육을 위한 교수 자료의 부족, 통합교육의 실시를 위한 소극적인 재구성 등이 문제점으로 나타났다. 통합 교과의 지도와 관련해서는 교과 내용이 아동 경험과의 깊은 관련성을 유지하고 있다는 장점이 있으나, 교과 내용이 대체로 어렵고 내용 분량이 많다는 점이 문제점으로 드러났다. 또한, 통합교육의 운영상 저해 요인으로는 교사 업무의 과다, 교사의 전문성 부족, 학급당 학생수의 과다 등이 있었다. 이러한 문제점을 바탕으로 통합교육의 활성화 방안으로 통합교육 연수의 강화, 교사의 업무 경감과 보조 교사제의 도입, 통합교과 내용의 축소 및 조정, 교수‧학습 자료의 개발‧보급, 학급당 인원수의 감축, 행‧재정적 지원활동 강화 등을 제시하였 다.

The purpose of this study is to grasp the current status of the elementary teachers operation of the integrated curriculum, to ascertain the problems and factors disturbing its operation, and to present the ways to truly activate the operation of the integrated curriculum. Methods adopted for this study was to observe and interview the teachers in class.
Results of this study showed that a substantial number of teachers were keenly interested in the integrated curriculum with an understanding that the integrated curriculum was designed for the student-oriented education. However, it was discovered that lack of teaching materials for operating the integrated curriculum and a cautious approach to reorganizing the curriculum still remained problematic. It was also discovered that the content of the curriculum proved to be difficult for the students to understand and large in amount, though it was closely related to the children s own experiences.
Other factors disturbing the operation of the integrated curriculum included excessively enlarged duties of the teachers, lack of professionalism on the part of the teachers involved, and an overcrowded class.
Based on such problems and negative factors, reinforcing the training of the teachers for the integrated curriculum, reducing the scope of duties of the teachers and introducing a system of providing an assistant teacher, reducing the number of students in class, and reinforcing the administrative and financial support, were presented as ways of vigorously activating the operation of the integrated curriculum.
