전래동요를 통한 연상학습이 정신지체아의 표현언어에 미치는 사례연구 = A Case Study of Association Learning with Traditional Children's Songs on Expressive Words of the Mentally Retarded

The purpose of this case study is to investigate the effects of association learning programs using traditional children's songs on acquirement of expressive words for the mentally retarded students. The subjects of the study were 3 students of the third grade in the special meddle school for the mentally retarded. The procedures are as follows:
For the first object, 10 association learning programs were made up using 10 traditional songs. Target vocabulary lists were made up by association learning programs according to the session and the effects of association learning program on acquirement of expressive words of the mentally retarded by checking the numbers of present vocabularies, accomplished vocabularies and additional vocabularies were investigated.
For the second object, present language expression abilities of the students were classified with the item of language expression ability before the beginning of the program and were compared with language expression abilities after the finishing of the program by post-test. The program was carried out over ten sessions, one session of two hours a week. The results of the study are as follows:
First, association learning program with traditional children's songs was effective on learning expressive words of the mentally retarded. As a result of comparing present vocabularies with accomplished vocabularies of the program by sessions, all subjects showed high rate of acquirement of expressive words. It was proved that offering incidental hints or clues by association learning between the researcher and the subjects were effective on the expression of the latent language, showed additional vocabularies other than target vocabularies according to the respective sessions.
Second, association learning program had an effect on language expression abilities of the mentally retarded. In pre-test, the levels of the language expression abilities of the subjects were like this; A was 5 years and 6 months, B and C were 4 years. In post-test, the levels were improved like this; A was 6 years and 6 months, B and C were 5 years.
The meaning of the study is to make the mentally retarded take interests in association learning by using traditional children's songs and to arouse the mentally retarded fixed into stereotyped language from inner latent language expression by enlarging thinking area and recomposing experience. Interaction between researcher and the subjects and unexpected situations caused in the course of the program made the subjects express their latent language and were an opportunity to understand the latent experience field of them. It was proved that association learning with traditional children's songs was effective on language expression learning of the mentally retarded and it was showed that association learning with traditional children's songs could be applied for the improvement of the language expression abilities of the mentally retarded.

본 연구는 전래동요를 이용한 연강학습 프로그램이 정신지체 학생의 표현언어 습득에 미치는 효과와, 정신지체 학생의 언어표현 능력에 미친 영향을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구대상은 경기도 소재 특수학교 중학부 3학년 정신지체 학생 중에서 언어발달이 지체된 학생 3명으로 하였다. 연구결과에 의하면, 전래동요를 통한 연상학습 프로그램은 정신지체 학생의 표현언어 습득과 언어표현 능력에 효과가 있었다는 결론이다.
