도덕적 동기화의 근원으로서 도덕적 정체성에 대한 비판적 검토

국문 초록 (Abstract)

도덕적 동기화를 밝히는 작업은 도덕 심리학에서 어렵고 복잡한 문제로 여겨져 왔다. 도덕적 행위의 원천이나 동기와 관련하여 도덕적 판단이나 감정의 기능에 주목한 접근법들은 약간의 설득력이 있지만, 비상한 도덕적 행동, 일관된 도덕적 행위, 그리고 지속적인 도덕적 실행을 보다 철저하게 설명하기에는 한계가 있다. 두 접근법의 대안으로 도덕적 정체성 모델들이 제시되어 왔다. 도덕적 정체성이 도덕적 행동을 동기화시키는 역할을 한다고 제안하는 모델들은 도덕성이 자신의 자아의식 및 정체성에 중요하고 핵심적일 때, 자신의 도덕적 관심들에 따라서 살아가려는 의무감과 책임감을 상승시킨다고 제안하는 점에서 통일된다. 본 연구는 도덕적 정체성에 대한 현재의 문헌들과 연구들을 재검토 하면서 도덕적 정체성 모델들의 강점을 밝히고 앞으로의 발전적 방향을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 특히 도덕성과 자아에 대한 이해, 도덕성과 자아의 통합, 그리고 행위자의 도덕적 동기화 체계의 작동과정을 중점으로 탐구한다. 그리고 도덕적 정체성 모델들에 대한 다양한 비판들에 대한 분석을 통해 앞으로의 연구와 교육적 함의를 제시한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Accounting for moral motivation has proven to be a complex and difficult problem for moral psychology. The cognitive developmental and emotional approaches have focused on functions of moral judgements or moral emotions to account the source of moral behavior or motives, and that give some merits for us, but that are not enough to explain excellent actions, consistent behavior and continuous moral practice more completely. The models of moral identity have been referred to as an alternative of two approaches: cognitive developmental and emotional approaches. These models suggested that moral identity plays role for being motivation to act morally. And they all together proposed that a sense of duty and responsibility to live according to one's moral concerns rise when the morality is important and the core within a sense of self and identity. This study aims to make clear the strengths of moral identity theories and to suggest the future direction for researches and investigations of these models and theories. This paper put emphasis on and will explore an understanding and integration of one's own morality and self, an operational process of system or schema of agent's moral motivation. And then, this article will suggest educational implications through analyzing the criticisms of these models and theorise.
