초등학교시기의 심리사회요인과 중학생시기의 자살생각간의 관계 -스트레스, 우울감과 사회적 지지를 중심으로- = Effects of Childhood Stress, Depression, and Social Support on Middle School Adolescent Suicidal Ideation

This study examines the effects of childhood stress, depression, and social support on middle school adolescents' suicidal ideation. Data are based on the Korean Youth Panel Study (KYPS), which is a longitudinal study that collects nationwide data among 2,844 middle school students for 4 years. Year 1 (4th grade) and year 3 (6th grade) data were used as predictors and year 4 (middle school) data was used for suicidal ideation analysis. The results show that depression was a significant factor for the 4th graders. Second, parent support, parent stress, economic stress, and depression were significant among the 6th graders. Third, 4th grade boys had a significant relationship with school support and depression while 4th grade girls had a relationship with parent support, academic stress, and depression. Finally, peer support, parent stress, and depression were significant factors for 6th grade boys and parent support, academic stress, economic stress, and depression were significant for 6th grade girls. Practical social welfare implications for prevention programs and interventions for suicidal ideation and limitations of the study are also discussed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 초등학교시기의 심리사회요인 중 다양한 스트레스, 우울감과 사회적지지가 남녀중학생의 자살생각에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보았다. 분석 자료로는 전국규모의 종단조사 자료인 한국청소년정책연구원에서 실시한 ‘한국청소년패널조사(KYPS)' 중1 자료와 초등학교 4, 6학년의 자료를 이용했다. 분석결과, 첫째, 초등 4학년의 요인 중 우울감만이 중학교시기의 자살생각과 유의미했고 둘째, 초등 6학년의 유의미한 심리사회요인은 부모지지, 부모스트레스, 경제스트레스와 우울감이었다. 셋째, 남녀를 구분해서 분석한 예측요인들의 결과로는 4학년 남자의 경우, 학교지지와 우울감이 유의미한 관계였고 여자는 부모지지, 학업스트레스와 우울감으로 나타났다. 넷째, 6학년 심리사회적요인 중에서 남학생은 친구지지와 부모 스트레스, 우울감이 자살생각과 관계가 있었으며, 여학생은 부모지지, 학업스트레스, 경제스트레스와 우울감으로 나타났다. 결과적으로, 초등학교 심리사회요인들은 각 학년에 따라 우울을 제외하고 다르게 중학교 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 남녀별로도 자살생각에 미치는 영향이 각각 다른 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과의 사회복지실천적인 함의와 함께 연구의 제한점과 차후과제에 대해 논의를 하였다.
