유아기 사회적 위축성과 또래 거부 관계의 중재 요인 = The role of gender in moderating effects of language ability,prosocial behavior, and friendship on the links between social withdrawal and peer rejection

This study examines the role of gender in the relationship between social withdrawal and peer rejection behaviors in young children. The study then investigates the moderating effects of language skills, prosocial behavior, and friendship on the social withdrawal and peer rejection relationship. Subjects were 297 four and five year olds recruited from middle income families. Children's language skills and friendship were assessed by interview and teachers measured peer rejection, withdrawal, and prosocial behavior. Analyses reveal 1) that social withdrawal significantly predicted peer rejection for the boys in this study but not for the girls, and that 2) language skills and prosocial behavior significantly moderated the relationship between social withdrawal and peer rejection only for boys.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 유아기 사회적 위축성과 또래 거부의 관계를 중재해주는 변인으로 언어능력, 친사회성, 친구관계를 설정하고 성별에 따른 변인들의 중재적 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 연구 대상은 만 4, 5세 아동 297명이었다. 유아들을 대상으로 개별 면접법을 사용하여 언어능력과 친구관계를 측정하였으며, 교사 보고법을 사용하여 또래거부와 위축성 및 친사회성을 측정하였다. 연구결과에 의하면 남아의 경우에만 위축성이 또래 거부를 예언해 주었으며, 언어능력과 친사회성은 위축성과 또래 거부의 관계를 중재해 주는 것으로 나타났다.
