공공화법과 토론교육 효과의 개인차

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The present study investigated (a) if learning public speech and debate has indirect as well as direct effects on communicative competence, debate efficacy, tolerance and participation and (b) how the individual difference of participants moderates the influence of public speech and debate education. Participants recruited from 4 public speech and debate classes (N=91) and 3 other classes (N=134) were enrolled in pre-and post-term surveys. Positive effects of public speech and debate education were found, however, these effects were eliminated when the participants’ internal motivation for the class was controlled. Instead, communicative competence and debate efficacy appeared to moderate the effects of public speech and debate education on tolerance and participation. Implications are discussed in light of speech education and democratic citizen education.
