기초 능력 교육으로서의 논증교육의 내용과 방법 = A Study on Contents and Methods of Argumentation in Educations as a Basic Ability Education

This study introduced contents and methods of argumentation in education as a basic ability education. Recently, many universities have opened writing and debate classes as reinforcement of basic ability education and argumentation in educationon is the center of those classes. This paper introduced class contents and methods of argumentation in education in the course of 〈Argumentation and Persuasion〉 among CAP programs of the Catholic University of Korea.
The author started argumentation in education on three premises: argumentation in education should be a argumentation genre education and should aim to acquire the argumentation genre literacy. Argumentation in education mainly composed of students' activities, and include arguments which allow various reasoning.
The author selected the deposed queen Yoon in the period of Sung-Jong of Chosun dynasty as a theme. Using the event of the deposed queen Yoon as a class material, the author led the class in the order of data research - analysis of argument construction and issue - evaluation of argumentation - selection of position - construction of argument - group discussion - class discussion - writing - group criticism and addition/deletion - evaluation.
Such argumentation in education is meaningful in that it improves cognitive and social ability. In terms of cognitive aspect, it helps building critical and creative thinking while generating confirmation of self-identity, open mindedness and attitude, cooperative and sympathetic mind, and reasonable problem solving in terms of social aspect.
