‘조직 건강’의 개념 분석 및 재개념화 = An Analysis on the Conception and Re-conceptualization of ‘Organizational Health’

The purposes of this study are to analyze and evaluate many aspects of organizational health, and then to propose a new conceptual framework for exploring it. In particular, this study first reviews, the definitions, approaches, levels, and sub-elements of organizational health and then presents a proposal for re-conceptualizing organizational health.
The most important characteristics of organizational health, and of healthy organizations, are, in the order of influence: organizational environment, organizational behavior, organizational processes, and organizational objectives and structures. More research on unhealthy organizations should be conducted to diagnose and manage organizations.
A new definition for organizational health is suggested. It is “The optimal state of managing a system, social system, and open system in the process of an organization carrying out its functions. The organization will become sick when its state deteriorates.” Even though this definition has not yet been verified, it will draw more attention to this subject.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 '조직 건강'의 개념을 분석하고 조직건강의 새로운 개념을 제시하려는 것이다. 연구방법은 문헌연구와 아이디어의 재결합에 따랐다.
조직건강의 개념은 조직의 기능수행능력이나 최적의 기능수행상태를 나타낸다. 접근법은 유추적 접근법과 체제 접근법을 들 수 있다. 분석 범위에서는 조직건강 일반과 부정적인 측면인 조직의 병을 함께 고려할 필요가 있다. 분석 수준에서는 개인, 집단 그리고 조직차원으로 구분된다. 조직의 특성차원은 조직환경, 조직행태, 조직과정, 조직목표와 조직구조의 순서로 강조되고 있다.
이에 따라 연구자는 조직건강을 “조직이 기능을 수행하기는 과정에서 관리체제, 사회체제 그리고 개방체제적 능력이 최적인 상태를 의미하며, 이때 상태가 악화되면 병에 걸린다.”고 정의하였으며 이에 따라 하위체제별 요소를 제시하였다. 조직건강에 대한 이러한 재개념화는 아직 검증되지는 않았지만 그에 대한 새로운 연구의 방향을 제공할 것으로 본다.
