디아스포라 주체의 비판적 위치성과 민족 서사의 해체

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

  The concept positionality is grounded on questioning the universality, objectivity, generality and transparency of knowledge which had been presumed in the Enlightenment notion of reason. Without decentralizing the epistemological position of the subject, we cannot challenge the pseudo-consciousness deeply internalized in the Cartesian self. In this sense, critical diaspora studies should overcome the dualistic ways in which diasporic subjects are viewed as dispersed, marginalized, polluted and nomadic, and people in the home country as pure, fixed, rooted, and central. By approaching to Pierre Nora"s postmodern writing strategy, I argue that diaspora studies should challenge national narrations and the discourse of nation. Yet, unfortunately in the case of Korean educational institutions, it seems that hegemonic nationalist groups still take the national history for granted. I conclusively argue that spatial narrations of the history of national history should ground critical diaspora studies, so that we can understand the ways in which hegemonic groups has imagined, represented, and embodied the history of nation.
