국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 영어ㆍ과학 통합 영재 프로그램 개발과 적용에 초점을 두어, 의사소통의 수단이 되는 영어를 통해 폭넓고 심도 있는 과학적 주제에 대한 의사소통 능력을 신장시키며, 논리력, 사고력, 창의력을 기를 수 있는 과학교과와 언어 능력을 동시에 향상시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 초등학교 영재 프로그램에 적용가능한 영어ㆍ과학 통합 프로그램을 개발하여 적용한 후, 프로그램 평가에 따른 개선점을 수정 반영하여 영재 프로그램 개발 및 적용에 대한 시사점을 찾는데 목적을 두었다. 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영어ㆍ과학 통합 프로그램은 학습자의 다양한 인지적 능력, 정의적 영역에 긍정적 영향을 주었다. 둘째, 프로그램 적용 결과 집단 유형의 성격에 긍정적인 변화가 있었다. 셋째, 프로젝트 활동 중에서 산출물의 결과를 학습자 자신, 동료, 교사 등 다양한 관점에서 평가하고 이를 피드백 할 수 있었으며, 이질집단의 소집단 구성으로 서로 부족한 능 을 보완할 수 있는 긍정적인 결과를 보여주었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study is to develop integrated English and science gifted program and conduct an experimental study for its application. This study surveys the current status of gifted education and gifted programs in Korean elementary school setting. This study will look into the needs of students, the institutional environment, science gifted curriculum, English curriculum, the methods and contents of integrating English and science. Based on these findings, the study will find an appropriate model of gifted education and develop a gifted program. Gifted class was created based on students" merits shown on the five phases identification tests. Fourteen students made up a class and took four hours a week for one semester. The findings of the experimental application are as follow: Most of the participants improved their English. Within such improvements, different patterns of improvement are noted in spoken/written language, comprehensive/productive skills and positive results in affective domain.
