대학졸업생의 직업세계로의 이행과 취업에 관한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 대학생의 졸업 후 직업세계로의 이행과 취업에 영향을 주는 요인에 대해 분석하기 위해 우리나라 우량 대기업 18개사에서 근무하고 있는 최근 입직자를 대상으로 설문자료를 수집ㆍ분석하였다. 선행 연구들에서는 주로 개인배경과 학력에 관한 요인들이 취업에 중요하게 작용하는 것으로 분석되었다. 반면에 본 연구에서는 취업준비 요인과 영어능력 등 국제화를 위한 노력이 대학졸업자들의 직업세계로의 이행에 중요하게 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 대학졸업자들이 노동시장으로 이행할 때에는 개인배경과 학력 요인뿐 아니라 국제적 역량의 강화를 위한 각종 경험과 대학에서의 수업과정 및 학점 등 국제화 제고 노력도 중요한 작용을 하고 있다. 특히 이들 요인은 영어능력, 구직 기간, 국제화 업무배치 등 노동시장 진입과 활용에도 영향을 미치고 있다. 또 영어 능력의 경우 토익 점수, 독해력, 청취력, 언어소통, 문서작성 능력으로 나누어 살펴보았을 때 각각에 유의하게 미치는 요인들이 다르게 나타났다. 이는 학력 요인과 외국어 능력 등 국제적 자질의 제고 노력요인이 대학졸업자들의 노동시장 이행과정에서 중요하게 작용하고 있음을 시사한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Recent increases in graduate unemployment is a serious social issue which concerns Korean higher education institutions. This study focused on selection practice of major Korean enterprises which employ large number of recent college graduates. For this purpose, we sampled 684 recent graduates employed in 18 of 100 major firms in Korea in 2006.
The results show that educational credentials and global skills(or competencies) such as English language skills play important roles in STWT and employment ofuniversity graduates. Prior literature shows personal background and educational credentials as having main influence on graduate employment. However, results of this study show employment preparation and global skills such as English language ability play important roles in graduates' STWT and employment success. In the process of STWT, personal background and credential variables, as well as experiences and curricular exposure to enhance international competence (or global skills) play significant roles. These variables, in turn, exert influence on English language competence, period of STWT (job search). Further, specific aspects of English language skills, such as TOEIC score, comprehension level, listening ability, conversation skills, and English writing ability have varying degrees of influence. These findings provide important implications for universities in preparing students for employment in the Korean labor market.
