학령기 아동의 자아개념과 학업성취도와의 관계연구 = The Relationship between Self-Concept and Academic Achievement of School-Age Children

국문 초록 (Abstract)

  본 연구의 목적은 학업성취와 자아개념 간의 상관관계를 확인하고 자아개념이 학업성취에 미치는 효과를 검증함으로써 초등학교 학생의 학업성취를 증진시키기 위한 기본적인 자료를 제공하기 위한 것이다. 본 연구에서는 초등학생의 자아개념과 학업성취의 관계는 어떠한가? 초등학생의 자아개념이 학업성취에 미치는 영향은 어떠한가? 초등학생의 성별에 따른 자아개념은 어떠한가? 등을 연구문제로 설정하였다.<BR>  본 연구의 피험자는 서울의 초등학교에서 선발된 124명의 4학년 학생들이다. 본 연구에서 사용된 자아개념 검사는 Marsh(1989, 1990)에 의해 개발된 자아개념 검사도구인 SDQ-I(Self-Description QuestionnaireㆍI)로, 본 연구자가 변역하여 사용하였다. 학업성취는 국어, 수학, 과학, 사회 등 각 교과목의 4학년 정기모의고사 성적이다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 10.0을 이용하여 분석하였으며, t-test, ANOVA, 상관계수가 산출되었다.<BR>  본 연구의 결과는 첫째, 초등학생의 자아개념에 성별 차이가 나타났다. 즉 신체적 능력과 읽기 능력에 있어서 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 학업적 자아개념과 학업성취 간에는 상관관계가 있다는 것이 밝혀졌다. 특히, 일반교과와 읽기, 수학 등에서의 상관이 유의미했다.<BR>  이와 같이 초등학생들의 특성을 밝힘으로써 학생들의 학업성취를 위한 교육프로그램 개발과 학생지도에 있어서 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

  The purpose of this study was to provide as a basic tenet for improving educational achievement of elementary school students by analyzing the correlation education achievement with self concept and examining the effect of the self concept on educational achievement. For accomplishing this purpose, the following research questions were postulated: 1. Is there any relationship between school-age children"s self-concept and educational achievement? 2. What are the self-concept of school-age children"s by genders? The subjects in this study were 124 fourth graders selected from one elementary school in Seoul area. In this study the questionnaire on self-concept SDQㆍI, and Achievement Test for educational achievement which was developed by the school were used. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS 10.0. The t-test, ANOVA, Coefficient were employed for analyzing the data. Some suggestions based on this findings were might be given: Firstly, as a result of the findings of the difference of self-concept by gender, there"s a statistically significant difference between boys and girls in self-concept on physical ability and reading ability. Secondly, as a result of the findings of the relation between academic self-concept and educational achievement of by total score of all the subjects, there"s a statistically significant difference among them in self-concept on general subjects, reading, and math.
