The purpose of this study was to estimate the effect size effects of career programs which were developed and have been operating in Korea. For this purpose, this study calculated over the 680 effect sizes from 93 studies. The selected studies were conducted in Korea from 1993 to 2002 and applied pre-post between group design. From each article, the contents of the research method, results, and the appendix were closely reviewed. The effect sizes were analyzed in overall, and compared in the aspects as the characteristics of the participants (sex, regional area, grade, the style of high school), the specific factors in managing the program (the number of sessions, the duration per session, whether or not using multi-media system), the type of operating program, and the style of distributing the participants to the control or experimental group. The results were as follows : The overall of mean effect size in target theses was found to be 0.68. The result showed that the effectiveness of the career counseling and program in Korea was highly effective. The program is most effective when it was performed for the high school students (g=.81), the frequencies of the program were 6-10 times (g=0.71), the duration of a session is composed 76-105 minutes (g=0.87), and the activities were balanced between guidance and counseling. These results will contribute for the development of career counseling and guidance research and practice by showing that career counseling or guidance programs are considerably effective and what is the most effective factors and types of career counseling or guidance programs.
